All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Elizabeth Sharp Nisbet - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, January 20, 1956 Parish Resident's Mother Succumbs Sunday In Monroe Mrs. John Nisbit, mother of Mrs. Pearl Bryant, a Madison Parish resident, died in Monroe Sunday. She was 89. Funeral services were held at the Tallulah Presbyterian Church Monday afternoon at 3 p. m. with the Rev. W. F. Mansell of the First Presbyterian Church of Vicksburg, officiating. Burial followed in the Silver Cross Cemetery. Mrs. Nisbit was the former Elizabeth K. Sharp, born in Great Grimsley, England, on May 1, 1867. She came to the United States in 1882 and they settled in Slayton, Minn. She took nurses training in St. Paul, Minn., and married John Nisbit who had just come from Scotland on September 8, 1889. She was an ardent worker in the Presbyterian Church. She spent 17 years at the home of Mrs. Bryant, moving her husband to the St. Joseph's Home for the aged at Monroe in January, 1940. Mr. Nisbit died in December, 1949. She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Pearl Bryant of Tallulah; a grand-daughter, Mrs. Jean Crosby of Starkville, Miss. ; two great grandchildren, Linda Jean and James Crosby, III; one sister, Mrs. Emma Thorndike of Crowville, Wash. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Rupert Harmon, Fred Peterkin, Rufus Yerger, Perry Folk, Louis Furr, Sr., and Gus Willett.
