Rufus Newell

Rufus Newell, 84, of Tallulah died at Friday in the Richland Parish Nursing Home at Delhi following a 
long illness.

Funeral services were Saturday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Crothers Funeral Home, Tallulah, with the 
Rev. David xxxx officiating. Burial was Sunday in New Hope Cemetery, Meadville, Miss.

Mr. Newell was a native of Meadville and a resident of Tallulah for 20 years. He was a member of the 
Methodist Church.

Survivors include one brother, John R. Newell, Tallulah; three sisters, Mrs. Katie Huffman, Union Church, 
Miss., Mrs. Lena Howard, Lumberton, Miss. and Mrs. Alva Strong, Greenville, Miss.; and a number of nieces 
and nephews.

Pallbearers were Pearl Pickering, Mike Bedford, R. A. Pickering, Leslie R. Wallace, Albert Newell, and 
John R. Newell.
