Murphy Held Saturday Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, February 12th, for Mr. Thomas Dewitt Murphy, 51, who died Friday morning at 6:25 in a Vicksburg Hospital following a lengthy illness. Services were conducted from the Tallulah Baptist church at 3 o'clock, with Rev. Shirley Briggs officiating, assisted by' Rev. J. F. Kilpatrick. Interment followed in the Silver Cross Cemetery Mr. Murphy resided in this community for the past 12 years, and was employed by the Powell Tractor Company. He was a veteran of World War I, and a member of the American Legion. Pallbearers included Bill Powell, Ed Shamblin, Bob Brown, James Harmon, Claude Searles, T. C. Hancock. Besides his wife, Mrs. T. D. Murphy, he is survived by three daughters, Miss Mary Murphy, Jackson, Miss.; Miss Patsy Murphy, Tallulah; Mrs. Betty Byram, Tallulah; two sons, Thomas Murphy, U. S. Army, Salina, Kansas; Norman Murphy, U. S. Air Force, Shreveport, La.; his mother, Mrs. H. E. Murphy, Shreveport, La.; three sisters, Mrs. F. H. Shaw, Shreveport, La.; Mrs. B. F. Trant, Shreveport, La.; Mrs. Ardie Wornack, Ockechobee, Fla. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home.
