Mike was born on August 8, 1935 in Napoleon, MS. He was of the Catholic Faith and a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis, MS. He was a Speech Pathologist in Tallulah, LA for 20 years before moving back to Bay St. Louis, MS and was a Speech Pathologist in the Hancock County schools where he retired. He was a volunteer at NASA and a member of RSVP. Mike will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles B. & Mary Elizabeth Starks Murphy; 2 brothers, Charles & Samuel Murphy; and sister, Nancy Murphy. Mike is survived by his wife of 23 years, Jane Jefferson Murphy of Bay St. Louis, MS; brother, Joseph R. Murphy of Bay St. Louis, MS; 4 sisters, Lucille M. Witter of Bay St. Louis, MS, Doris M. Balius of Gulfport, MS, Margaret M. Ladner of Pearlington, MS, Sister Claudia Murphy of Madison, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 27, 2005 at 11:30 am in Napoleon Cemetery in Napoleon, MS. In Lieu of flowers, donations to Catholic Foundation Diocese of Jackson, Sister Claudia Murphy Endowment Fund for Senior Adult Ministry, P.O. Box 2248, Jackson, MS 39225. Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis, MS is in charge of the arrangements.
