Mitchell died Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, at Glenwood Medical Center in West Monroe. He was 79. Born in Pascagoula, Mr. Mitchell had lived in Tallulah since 1954. He owned and operated Star Drive-In Theatre and had worked as a guard at API. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Tallulah. Survivors include his wife, Vera Agnes Mitchell of Tallulah; two sons, William Douglas Mitchell of West Monroe and Danny Ray Mitchell of Tallulah; one daughter, Gwendolyn Sisk of Monroe; three brothers, Henry Lawrence Mitchell of Metairie, La., Elmer Mitchell of Baton Rouge and Robert Lee Mitchell of Evening Shade, Ark.; one sister, Johnnie Lynn Phillippe of Gonzales, La.; six grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah with the Rev. John W. Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be family members.
