(Curly) Mills - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, October 28, 1976 Final rites held for Curly Mills Warren W. (Curly) Mills, 56, of Tallulah, was pronounced dead Thursday afternoon at the Madison Parish Hospital after being stricken in the Madison Parish Health Unit parking lot. Results of an autopsy ordered by parish coroner Dr. George M. Webb showed that Mills died of a coronary occlusion, an obstruction of a coronary artery. Mills had received a swine flu inoculation minutes before the attack occurred and was in his vehicle taking to a friend when he was stricken by what Dr. Henri Wiebe called "an apparent spell in which he had severe muscle spasms." Mills received closed cardiac massage and other resuscitative measures, including an injection of adrenalin from state health personnel who tried to revive him. Funeral services for Mr. Mills were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Tallulah with Father John Gayer officiating. Burial was in Providence Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home. Mills was a mechanic and co-owner of R&M Motor Co., a veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion, St. Edwards Catholic Church, a native of Hillsboro, Iowa and a resident of Tallulah for the past 38 years. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Kathleen Mills of Tallulah; five sons, John A. Mills of Houston, Tex.; Edward C. Mills of Tulsa, Okla.; Thomas R. Mills, Warren W. Mills Jr., and Michael W. Mills, all of Tallulah; one daughter, Mrs. Betty Ann Mathews of Alexandria; three brothers, Joe Mills of Smyrna, Tenn., Richard Mills of Biloxi, Miss., and Darrel Mills of Lomita, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. John D. Hoogland of Ruston and Mrs. Myron Bailey of Tallulah and two grandchildren. Pallbearers were Dr. H.S. Provine, Russell Peterson, Bill Harris, J. A. Bowles. Larry Jones. Bill Colligan, M.O. Gunn and Elbert Ikerd. The family requests that any planned memorials be made to Delta Christian School or St. Edwards Catholic Center.
