Mills - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, December 4, 1959 Local Resident Dies Wednesday Following Illness Funeral services for John A. Mills, 80, who died Wednesday afternoon at the Madison Parish Hospital were held Thursday at 2 p. m, at the Methodist Church with the Rev. William F. Mayo, officiating. He was a native of Herbert, Iowa, and came to this area 22 years ago. For several years he made his home in Ruston and was a member of the Grace Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, a Shriner, a Knights Templar, and a member of the Eastern Star. The body will be taken to Salem, Iowa for interment on Sunday. Local arrangements were handled by Crothers Funeral Home. Mr. Mills is survived by five sons: Ralph Mills, Tucson, Ariz., Warren Mills, Tallulah, Joe Mills, Nashville, Tenn., Richard Mills, Sacramento, Calif., and Darrell Mills, Salena, Kansas; two daughters, Mrs. John Hoogland, Ruston, and Mrs. Myron Bailey, Tallulah ; one sister, Mrs. Harry Ruckman, Stuart, Florida, and 22 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Charles Arneson, Manfred Gustafson, Bill May, Sam Brown, Rodney Naylor, Walter Erickson, Joe Reynolds and Jack Bowden.
