All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Pearl Melton - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal August 13, 1965 Services Held Sunday For Mrs. Pearl Melton Funeral services for Mrs Pearl Melton, 61, who died last Friday at her home here after a long illness were held at 2 p. m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bobby Drown officiating. Burial followed in Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home. A native of Laurel, Miss., she had resided in Madison Parish for the past 36 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tallulah. Survivors include her husband, R. L. Melton; eight sons, Mickey Melton and Robert Melton, both of Tallulah; Willie Melton of Corvallis, Oregon; Marzelle Melton of Vidalia; Bill Melton of New Orleans; M. L. Melton of Natchez, Miss; Leonard Melton of Eugene, Oregon; Pat Melton of Roseburg, Oregon; three daughters, Mrs. Winston Moffett, Mrs. Belle Roberson and Mrs. Bobby Scruggs all of Tallulah; her mother, Mrs. J. T. Pearcy of Tallulah; three brothers, four sisters and 23 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Garland Roberson, Madison Hattaway, Onward Bullard, George McDonald, Mickey Traxler and James L. Huffman.
