Note: Theo McLemore lived in Tallulah in the 1940’s and would have been in the THS class of 1948 had he not moved to Ferriday about 1945.

Shreveport, LA - Theo Emanuel McLemore went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 4, 2018. He was preceded in death a mere four months, by his beloved wife of 65 years, Betty Jo McLemore. Also, his father, Ira McLemore; his mother, Maude Rachel McLemore; one brother, Jerry McLemore; and one sister, Ola McLemore.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Cubley and husband Johnny, and his son, Buddy McLemore and wife Jennifer. He dearly loved his six grandchildren, Stacey Crawford and husband Scott, Bethany Crosby and husband Stan, Rachel Rimmer and husband Adam, Tim Cubley and wife Britny, Jenny Morgan and husband Stephen, and Betsy Haddox and husband Topher. He was an adoring Granddaddy to his 11 great-grandchildren, Jonah, Kendall, Christian, Emma, Cole, Claire, Audrey, Fallyn, Memphis, Addison and Otto.

Visitation will be Friday, July 13, 2018 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at Summer Grove Baptist Church followed immediately by a celebration of his life at 10:00 a.m. Officiating the service is dear friend and pastor, Brother Billy Crosby. Pallbearers will be son-in-law, Johnny Cubley; grandsons, Tim Cubley, Jonah Brannen, Stan and Christian Crosby, Adam and Cole Rimmer, Scott Crawford, Stephen Morgan; and close friend, Danny Cory.

He was best known for his love of the Lord, his unyielding affection for his wife, Jo, and his commitment to his church and its people. Mr. Mac, as he was affectionately known, was a dedicated, life-long member of Summer Grove Baptist Church. Through the years he was a voice of wisdom on numerous committees, and served as a deacon, trustee, and treasurer. He volunteered his time for hundreds of projects, and generously met every need. He was a prayer warrior and faithful encourager to the pastors at Summer Grove. In him, they knew they had a friend. It was his joy to serve, and through that, lovingly serve his Lord.

Mr. Mac was a decorated Marine, serving his country in Korea in the 1st Marine Division as one of the few survivors of the Battle of the Chosen Reservoir. Throughout his life, he overcame the memories of battle and instead celebrated his life with his family. Once home from the war, he began his career at The Shreveport Times and retired after nearly forty years as production director.

He enjoyed gardening, and was known for his summer crops of corn and peas. He loved to have his family over for "corn day" each year and shared the vegetables with many family and friends. He always had a trick up his sleeve and was usually planning his next prank! He was gifted at woodworking, whether it be cabinetry or carpentry. He and Mrs. Jo spent many hours in his shop working on projects for his church, family, and friends as selfless acts of service. He will be affectionately remembered as a loving father and Granddaddy, an adored husband, a faithful friend, and an obedient servant.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Pete Blanchard, Dr. Victoria Everton, WK Health Care, The Bradford Rehab Center, and the angels at AIME Hospice that ministered to him during his final days.
