A. McKinney, 63, Of Waverly, Dies After Long Illness Mr. W. A. McKinney, of Waverly, La., died after a six weeks' illness, at the home of a son, Mr. Maurice McKinney, in Delhi, April 3rd, 1940. The funeral services were held at the Delhi Baptist Church, with Rev. C. F. Almand, pastor of the Baptist church, and Rev. H. N. Alexander, pastor of the Delhi and Tallulah Presbyterian churches, officiating. Burial was in the Stout Cemetery, southwest of Delhi, with the Masons in charge of the final rites. Mr. McKinney was 63 years of age last January 12th and for most of his life had been a member of Harmony Baptist Church. He is survived by three brothers: Messrs. Mike McKinney, of Sulphur, La., Charles McKinney, of Waverly, and Wilson McKinney of Monroe; also by three sisters: Mrs. Letha Hollingsworth of Monroe, Mrs. Annie Hudgens of El Dorado, and Mrs. Lutie Carter of Mississippi. The following sons and daughters also survive him: Mrs. Frank McEachern, Delhi; Mr. L. W. McKinney, Shreveport; Mr. A. L. McKinney, Waverly ; Mrs. J. B. Boyd, Delhi; Mrs. A. L. Hightower, Waverly; and Mr. Maurice McKinney, Delhi. His wife had passed away many years ago. Mr. McKinney occupied a warm place in the hearts of the community where he lived. He had proved himself a true neighbor on countless occasions of sickness and sorrow; and he never failed to render most valuable assistance to the Vacation Bible Schools, which were held from time to time either near or in his own community, by helping provide transportation for the children.
