All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Basil Lee McCarty - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, May 31, 1989 Funeral services for Mr. Basil Lee McCarty, 70, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Crothers Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Wright officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Crothers. Mr. McCarty died Tuesday, May 23 at Ochsner's Hospital in New Orleans following a lengthy illness. He was a native of Richland Parish and had been a resident of Madison Parish for the past 25 years. He was a veteran of World War II, a retired welder and a member of the Willow Bayou Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Thelma P. McCarty of Tallulah; three sons, Wilfred Lee McCarty of Pineville, Basil A. McCarty of Transylvania and Lonnie M. McCarty of Oakdale; two daughters, Lois Ann Strothman of Jackson, Ms. and Molly Renea Matthews of Tallulah; three sisters, Edna Herrington of Many, Rita Medlin of Transylvania and Margaret Williamson of Tallulah; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Basil McCarty, Lonnie McCarty, Dion McCarty, Scott McCarty, Johnnie Matthews, Chuck Strothman, Nat Matthews and Jerry Smitherman.
