Matthews - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Vicksburg Post November 20, 2007 TALLULAH - Johnie L. Matthews died Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, at St. Francis North Hospital. He was 78. Mr. Matthews was born in Lake Providence and had lived in Madison Parish for 32 years. He was retired from the Louisiana Department of Highways. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Mae Matthews. Survivors include three sons, Nathaniel L. Matthews of Tallulah, Robert E. Matthews of Delhi and Johnie L. Matthews III of Oakdale, La.; one brother, Albert Matthews of Crowville, La.; three sisters, Elma Willhite and Arminda Cable, both of Tallulah, and Mary Willhite of Columbia, La.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah with the Rev. John W. Rushing officiating.
