Jay Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in the Harringville Cemetery, Monticello, LA under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville. Mr. Mathis was born January 24, 1924 in Epps, LA and passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2015 in Tallulah, LA. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Sarah Mathis; wife, Louise Mathis; daughter, Patricia Goings; son, Cleve Mathis; grandsons, Brad Mathis and Michael Mathis. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran who served in WW II. Survivors include his children, Lillian Simms and husband, Kenneth of Tallulah, Charles Mathis and wife, Joann of Shreveport, Sally Welch and husband, John of Tallulah, Marlin Mathis and wife, Pam of Epps, Betty Jo Young and husband, John of Tallulah; 21-grandchildren; 62-great grandchildren; 6-great great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Smith, Pauline Cuttingham, Janie Britt; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Robert Simms, Ed Goings, Justin Young, Tommy Mathis, Keith Munn, and Eric Mathis. Honorary pallbearers are John Welch, Kevin Munn, Brian Mathis, Charles Mathis, Jr., Spencer Mathis. Visitation is 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Friday, November 6, 2015 at Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA.
