Mathews - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal November 20, 1990 Funeral services for Mr. John H. Mathews, 63, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Crothers Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Duewayne Tullos officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Crothers. Mr. Mathews died Friday at his home in Tallulah. He was a native of St. Joseph and had lived in Madison Parish for the past 20 years. He was a river dredging engineer, a veteran of both World War II and Korea and a member of the Horseshoe Baptist Church in Morehouse Parish. Survivors include his wife, Lavon H. Mathews of Tallulah; three sons, John R. Mathews of Tallulah, Perry A. Mathews of Hahira, Ga. and Alvin "BB" Mathews of Newark, Ark; one daughter, Ella Lavern Hinyup of Buffalo, Mo.; three sisters, Myrtle Mae Floyd of Ferriday, Mattie Howard and Winnie Robertson, both of Bastrop; four brothers, George Mathews of Roanoke, Va., Billy Mathews of Forest, John Mathews of Chestnut and James Mathews of Tallulah; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
