All rights reserved. ************************************************ John Martinez - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Defiance (OH) Crescent News December 27, 2006 NAPOLEON John Martinez,71, Napoleon, died Wednesday afternoon, June 22, 2005, in his home. He was born Sept. 23, 1933, in Tallulah, La., the son of Clifton and Amelia (Villareal) Martinez Sr. In 1956, he married Hazel Grier, who survives. He was the owner/operator of Plaza Cleaners, Napoleon, from 1967-80, a former meat cutter for Chief Supermarket, Napoleon, and retired in 1997 as a bus driver for Napoleon City Schools. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, American Legion Post 300 and VFW Post 8218, all of Napoleon. He was a former member of Napoleon Lions Club, Knights of Columbus and a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War. Surviving are three sons, Thomas (Elaine) of Seaford, Va., Randal (Gina) of Holly Springs, N.C., and Michael (Paula), Swanton; two daughters, Mrs. Kevin (Michele) Aelker of Napoleon and Mrs. John (Joy) DeVos, Owensboro, Ky.; three brothers, Manuel of Napoleon, Clifton Jr. of Texas, Ohio, and Dan, Paulding; four sisters, Lucille Simms of Moreno Valley, Calif., Josephine Roehrig, Independence, Millie Tamalunas, South Beloit, Ill.; and Alice Staton, Napoleon; and 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; and a granddaughter. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Augustine Catholic Church, Napoleon, with Father Dave Tscherne officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites accorded by joint veterans posts of Napoleon. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Sunday in Walker Mortuary, Napoleon, with a rosary service at 8:30 p.m. with Deacon Bob Bost officiating. Preferred memorials are to Henry County Hospice or American Cancer Society.
