Paul Jefferson Marsh - Madison Parish, Louisiana

From Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home Tallulah, LA December 24, 2016

Paul Jefferson Marsh

October 1, 1936 - December 19, 2016

Paul Jefferson Marsh was born October 1, 1936, in Grace, Mississippi, to the late Joseph Jefferson Marsh and the late Sarah Lucille Wise Marsh.

Paul moved to Sondheimer, Louisiana when he was seven years old. He was a graduate of Lake Providence High School. He served his country in the United States Army. Upon returning home, he farmed with his father and brother, establishing Jeff Marsh and Sons in 1974, with all of his brothers. They would go on to establish Marsh farms and Marsh cattle farms. Paul was very active in the community in which he grew up. He served as deacon at First Baptist Church in Sondheimer. Paul was a Past Master, 32nd degree

Scottish Rite and York Rite at Pecan Grove Lodge #222. He was a Barak Shrine Temple Shriner-something he held dear to his heart. He served as a member on the board of Delta Bank, and was president of the Madison/East Carroll Gin. He served as Vice President of the Walnut Bayou Water Association from 1980 until his passing. He was an auxiliary deputy to both the Madison and East Carroll Sheriff Departments.

Paul is survived by: his loving wife of 54 years, Stella Marsh; his children, Jeff and Carmen Marsh, Joe and Kayla Marsh, Paula and Brad Miller, and Crystal Marsh; grandchildren, Amanda Miller, Justin Purvis, Kaitlyn Purvis, Will Miller, Megan Marsh, Anna Claire Marsh, Shelby Ratcliff, Haylee Miller, Joey Marsh and Alex Marsh; one very anticipated great-grandchild, Tinsley Purvis; siblings, Alice Eubanks, Dorothy and Del Ainsworth, Cooter and Sharyn Marsh, Jimmy and Betty Marsh, Betty and Riley Boudreaux, Larry and Beverly Marsh, Billy and Ginny Marsh, Ann and George Shepherd, and Kathy and Booby Powers.

Paul was a master trapper, avid hunter, and fisherman who farmed so he could pay for his hobbies. There was no doubt to anyone who spoke with him that family came first, and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
