All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Clara Manis Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal March 31, 1950 Mrs. Clara Manis Funeral Held Here Saturday Morning Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Manis, who died Thursday afternoon at the Madison Sanitarium, a few hours following a cerebral hemorrhage, were held Saturday morning. She was 54 years of age. Mrs. Manis, who was a member of the First Baptist Church, had been a resident of this community approximately 25 years. At one time she owned and operated the Spotless Cleaners, which was purchased by Ilar Osborne in May, 1941. She also taught in the Tallulah School. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at the Baptist Church at 10 o'clock, with the Rev. Shirley Briggs officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home in the Silver Cross Cemetery. Pallbearers were R. E. Brown, J. C. Stocks, C. E. Walker, C. E. Goss, M. B. Christian, C. F King. Honorary pall bearers were J. K. Seab, Harvey Jones, Gaines Byram, Harry Lafferty, Paul Gaines. Mrs. Manis is survived by her husband, Mr. J. B. Manis, Tallulah; 2 sons, A. C. Harrington, Shreveport, La.; Dennis Porch, Tallulah; 1 daughter, Mrs. John Wade Landrum, Canton, Miss.; 1 brother, Leslie C. Vance, Vidalia, La.; 2 sisters, Mrs. Lillian Cook, Clear Water, Fla; Mrs. Marion Cross, Monterey, La.; 2 grandchildren.
