All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Robert Charles Leeves - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, September 16, 1966 Services Held On Sunday for Robert Leeves Funeral services for Robert Charles Leeves, 78, who died Friday night in a local hospital after an illness of five years, were held Sunday afternoon at 2 p. m. He was a charter member of the First Baptist Church and was a deacon of the church for 52 years. He was a thirty-second degree Mason and the Grand Lecturer of the Masonic Lodge of Louisiana for ten years. He was a planter, a civic leader and was connected with the Guardian Life Insurance Company of American. A Native of Naples, Texas, he had lived in Tallulah since 1909. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Clark Bell, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating, assisted by Rev. J. H. Hamilton. Burial followed in Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home. Masonic rites were held at graveside. . Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Laura Gaines Leeves; two daughters, Dr. Attie G. Leeves and Mrs. Claude Grimes, both of Tallulah; one brother, Ernest C. Leeves Dallas, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Will Ford, Omaha, Texas; and one grandson Bill Grimes, Fort Worth, Texas. Pallbearers were J. C. Sherwin, R. W. Gandy, R. N. Graves, Jeff Goza, H. W. Massey, J. K. Post, Jr., D. D. Wood, Henry C. Sevier, Jr., Judge C. C. Adams, Rufus Yerger, E. H. Lancaster, Jr., and R. P. Grimes, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers were, Deacons of the First Baptist Church, Representative Otto Passman, former Gov. Robert Kennon, Senator Howard Jones, Dr. Gus Street, Dr. L. J. Clark, C. E. Hester, M. Gustafson, M. A. Wroten, Jesse Anderson, Dr. George Webb, Dr. H. S. Provine, Dr. Jacob Storey, Dr. S. J. Lombardo and Dr. Joseph Yerger.
