All rights reserved. *********************************************************************************************** Marian Osborn Lawrence - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Lake Charles American Press July 2, 1963 TALLULAH (Spl) — Mrs. Marian Osborn Lawrence of Tallulah, sister of Mrs. H. J. Songe of Lake Charles, died Saturday after a long illness. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Methodist church here with Rev. Clark Bell officiating. Burial was in the Silver Cross cemetery under direction of Cupit-Young funeral home. Survivors besides Mrs. Songe are two sons, John B. Lawrence of Ardmore, Okla. and George W. Lawrence of Binghampton, N.Y.; one daughter, Mrs. Dan Walker Jr. of Tallulah; two sisters, Mrs. H. B. Rountree of Gilbert and Mrs. Songe and five grandchildren. Other Lake Charles relatives are two nieces, Mrs. Alfreda Lui and Mrs. Virginia Lui. Mrs. Lawrence's grandfather was Armstrong Osborn and his family were the first settlers in Franklin parish in 1804. She was the daughter of William Rapp Osborn and Nancy Griffing Osborn. Mrs. Lawrence's father hunted bear with President Theodore Roosevelt and later dined with him in the White House. Her brother, the late Marvin G. Osborn, was a member of the faculty at Lousiana State University. He was director of the school of journalism.
