P. Kell, longtime resident, dies at age 97 The funeral of Mrs. Thomas Phares Kell, 97, of Tallulah was held at 3 p. m. Saturday, January 2 at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. Joseph R. Harrison officiating. Mrs. Kell was the former Bessie Evans of Bastrop, La., before her marriage in 1895 to Mr. Kell, when she came to live at Point Clear Plantation in Madison Parish. In 1919, the family moved to Tallulah, where she lived until her death. Mr. Kell had large planting interest and was a former state legislator, and at the time of his death was president of the Fifth Louisiana Levee Board. Mrs. Kell was active in Trinity Episcopal Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Tallulah Book Club and the Madison Parish Garden Club. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Kell of New Orleans and Miss Cornelia Kell of Tallulah, granddaughter, Mrs. Charles Howard Morris of Little Rock, and a great granddaughter, Michelle Lynne Morris. Pallbearers were Barry Mitchell, Barry Maxwell, Judge C. C. Adams, J. Don Sevier, Edgar H. Lancaster Jr. and Philip Watson Jr. Interment was in Silver Cross Cemetery.
