All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Dave Kaufman - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, February 17, 1967 Dave Kaufman, Local Businessman Dies Recently Following A Long Illness; Services Held On Friday Tallulah and Madison Parish lost one of its successful businessmen when Mr. Dave Kaufman, owner of Kaufman's Department Store died after a long illness. Mr. Kaufman, 77, died in the Madison Parish Hospital Thursday of last week. He was a native of Donaldsonville, La., and had been living in Madison Parish since 1922. Prior to going in business for himself in Tallulah, he was employed by Kathan and Johnson Lumber Co. at Tendal. Funeral services were held in the Chapel of Crothers Funeral, Chapel at 3 P. M. Friday, with the Rev. Clark Bell officiating. Burial followed in Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home. He was a member of the Retail Merchants Committee of the Madison Parish Chamber of Commerce, a director of the Louisiana Retail Merchants Association, a member of the Tallulah Rotary Club, the American Legion and the Forty and Eight, a director of the Southern National Bank, a member of B'nai B'rith and a member of the Men's Bible Class of the Methodist Church. Survivors are his wife Mrs. Louise Thompson Kaufman, a stepson, Stuart Moberley, Tallulah; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Wesley Reardon, Tallulah; one brother, Nathan, and two sisters, Miss Dora Kaufman and Miss Sara Kaufman, all of Donaldsonville. Pallbearers were Cliff Adams, Harvey Mounger, Wilson Huckabay, Albert Paxton, Warren Patrick, Rodney Naylor, W. P. Cagnolatti and Edgar Lancaster, Jr. Among honorary pallbearers were members of the Men's Bible Class of the Methodist Church.
