J. Kathan Funeral services were held Wednesday for Lee Joseph Kathan, 73, who died of a heart attack Tuesday morning at his office five miles west of Waverly. Mr. Kathan resided at 210 Virginia Street, was a wellknown planter and lumberman in Madison Parish. A native of Merrell, Wisc., he had lived in Madison Parish since 1918 and was a member of the Tallulah Masonic Lodge and Methodist Church. Funeral services were held in the Tallulah Methodist Church at 3:20 P. M. Wednesday with the Rev. Wilson Watson officiating. Burial followed in the Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. L. J. Kathan, Tallulah; two daughters, Mrs. Walter M. Scott, Jr., and Mrs. Emmett Craig, both of Tallulah; two sisters, Miss Hazel Kathan, Tallulah; and Mrs. Dave C. Johnson, Fort Worth, Texas; and four grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers were J. H. Bryant, Rufus Yerger, Malcolm Cagnolatti, W. P. Cagnolatti, Cliff C. Adams, J. C. Sherwin, Cy Wixon, Jr., and Phillip Scurria. Honorary pallbearers were J. M. Frazier, Jr., Bobby Joe Lee, H. C. Sevier, Sr., Fred Frazier, Maurice Frazier, Harry Frazier, Hal Perry, E. M. Jones, Dr. H. S. Provine, George Atkins, and Gus Erving.
