All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Alma Jordan - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, June 2, 1967 Funeral Services Held Monday For Mrs. Alma Jordan Funeral services for Mrs. Alma Jordan, 56, who was killed in a two-car collision around 6 p. m. last Saturday on U. S. Highway 84 West of Ferriday, were held at 2 p. m. Monday. Services were conducted in the First Baptist Church of Tallulah with the Rev. Lucian Conway of Pineville officiating, assisted by the Rev. John S. Hurt of Tallulah. Burial followed in Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Old Southern Mortuary of Tallulah. Mrs. Jordan was a former resident of Tallulah. She was the widow of Benjamin Jordan. She was a former librarian in Tallulah, a former dean of women at Louisiana College and former dean of Women at Texas State College where a dormitory was named in her honor. At the time of her death, Mrs. Jordan was the hostess of the Louisiana Baptist Convention located in the Baptist Building in Alexandria. She was also on the staff of the First Baptist Church of Pineville. Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Polly Blount, Pineville; three sisters, Mrs. L. E. Levee, Tallulah, Mrs. Beekman Ranes, Houston, Texas and Mrs. B. R. Price of Jonesville; six nieces and three nephews. Pallbearers were Barton Sevier, Jim Sevier, R. C. Webb, Ilar Osborne, the Rev. Grady Welch, the Rev. Homer Mercer, Phillip J. Scurria and W. R. Roper.
