Jones - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal July 10, 1942 Funeral Services Held Here Friday For Edwin P. Jones Funeral services were held here last Friday afternoon at five o'clock at the Methodist church for Edwin P. Jones, 61, prominent cotton buyer who died suddenly Thursday. The Rev. H. N. Alexander, pastor, officiated, and interment was in the Silver Cross Cemetery. Active pallbearers were T. B. Justice, D. A. Whitfield, Ed Shamblin, A. J. Boswell, W. M. Scott and Will Raworth, the latter of Vicksburg. Honorary pallbearers were J. H. Devine, D. H. Allen, Jeff B. Snyder, Noland Harvey, Tom Harris, Dr. G. W. Gaines, George W. Webb, L. Z. Naylor, E. B. Saunders, L. G. Storey, W. A. Lancaster, T. L. Hugheston, Sam Scurria, Joe Scurria, R. S. Gayle, R. L. Russ, W. F. Powell and other friends. Mr. Jones was in his office carrying out his usual business when stricken with a heart attack. The end came immediately. He was born in Vicksburg, October 28, 1880, and spent the greater part of his life in Tallulah. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, a Mason and a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Surviving are his sister, Mrs. George W. Eggleston, his uncle, Horace M. Brooke, both of Tallulah, and a nephew, George W. Eggleston of New Orleans. Williams Funeral Home of Tallulah was in charge of arrangements.
