All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Charlie Hopkins - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Vicksburg Post December 5, 2012 TALLULAH — Charlie Hopkins died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at his home near Tallulah. He was 86. Mr. Hopkins was born in Woodville, Miss., and for 82 years had lived in Madison Parish. He was a retired farmer and a member of First Baptist Church of Tallulah. He was employed by Allen’s Dairy before farming in Madison Parish for 50-plus years. He was also instrumental in the building of Delta Christian School, Racer Holstead Football Field and Mound Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Irving Hopkins and Carrie Bunch Hopkins; and brothers and sisters, George Hopkins, Felix “Toad” Hopkins, Bill Hopkins, Ernest Hopkins, Minnie Hopkins and Ailene Powers. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Ella Ruth Ezell Hopkins of Tallulah; two sons, John C. Hopkins Jr. and wife Teresa of Tallulah and Devone Hopkins and wife Beth of Shreveport, La; one daughter, Teresa Ezell and husband Larry of Tallulah; four sisters, Josephine Kapkee of Natchez, Fannie Mae Tyler of Vicksburg, Mary Ellen Bowen of Jackson and Katie Frey of North Carolina; one brother, Rhada Hopkins of Vicksburg; grandchildren, Heath Ezell, Jenny Pankey, B.J. Pankey, Heather Svarc, Tyler Svarc, Carrie Osborne, Jared Osborne, Carter Hopkins and fiancé, Aubrey Flagg; and great-grandchildren, Ella Pankey, Emma Ezell and Judah Osborne. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at First Baptist Church of Tallulah with the Revs. Crawford Williams and Jason McGuffee officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday at the church from 1 p.m. until the service. Pallbearers will be Heath Ezell, Tyler Svarc, B.J. Pankey, Jared Osborne, Carter Hopkins, Brent Hopkins, Warren Hopkins and Bill Hopkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Melvin Hopkins, Harvey Hopkins and David Collins. Special thanks to Delta Home Care, especially Louvenia McNeal, Sissy Marsh and friend Elsie Honeycutt, Drs. Laura Clement and Lee Humble and nurse, Gail. In lieu of flowers, any memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Tallulah.
