All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ William Stone Holmes - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, June 28, 1944 Service Held Tuesday Morning for Will Holmes Funeral services were held in Tallulah at the family residence for Colonel William Stone Holmes Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock, with Rev. Henry A. Rickey officiating, assisted by Rev. J. Dean Maurer. Interment was in the Silver Cross cemetery here. Colonel Holmes, who was 71 years of age, died in a Monroe hospital Monday. He had been in ill health for several years, but visitors to him Sunday state that at that time he said he felt better than he had for some time. He was a son of the late Captain Henry Bry Holmes, S. C. S. A., and Mrs. Kate Stone Holmes, who were among the oldest pioneer families of Madison parish. He is survived by one sister, Miss Amy Holmes, of Tallulah.
