Holmes - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Monroe News-Star (LA), Tuesday, April 18, 1972 SONDHEIMER - Funeral services for Herbert E. Holmes, 57, of Sondheimer were to be at 1 p.m. today at First National Funeral Home in Lake Providence, with the Rev. Henry Stakes officiating. Burial was to be in Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah. Mr. Holmes died Sunday night in a one-car accident near the Monticello Community. Louisiana State Police said that Holmes was killed when his auto went through a T-intersection, ran off the road and crashed into a tree. Officials said that Holmes was alone in the vehicle when the accident occurred at the intersection of La. 577 and La. 877. Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Dellie Holmes of Delhi; seven brothers, Sedgie Holmes of Rayville, Buford Holmes of Lake Providence, Vernon Holmes of Epps, Cecil Holmes of Burris, Clayton Holmes of Houston, Tex., J. W. Holmes of Sondheimer and Vergil Holmes of Tifton, Ga.; four sisters, Mrs. Rachael Marino of Houston, Tex., Mrs. Alene McKenzie of New Orleans, Mrs. Gladys Marsh and Mrs. Annie Lou Rushing both of Transylvania.
