All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Samuel Houston (Sam) Hill Madison Parish, LA From Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home Tallulah, LA October 16, 2019 Funeral services for Mr. Samuel Houston (Sam) Hill, age 69, will be held Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at the Tallulah First Baptist Church in Tallulah, Louisiana with Bro. Robert Shelton officiating; visitation beginning at 12:00 P.M. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Sam passed away Monday, October 14, 2019 at his home while battling Alzheimer’s disease. Sam was born August 20, 1950 in Port Gibson, Mississippi. He graduated from Tallulah High School in 1968 and attended Northeast Louisiana University. He was founder/owner/operator of Hill farming operation. Sam helped establish and was an active stockholder in Farm Chemical Group of Tallulah, as well as manager of Sanders, Inc. He was a stockholder in Farmer’s Gin and Farmer’s Grain. He was a member of Madison Parish Farm Bureau where he served as past President. He worked with Corp of Engineers and served as a levee commissioner for the Fifth District Levee. He also served on the Madison Parish Port Commission. He was a lifelong friend and supporter of the 4-H program and the Agriculture Community in Madison Parish and the Northeast Louisiana Delta Region. He was Madison Parish LSU Ag Advisory Council Chairman, served as chairman of the Madison Parish 4-H Livestock Support Committee, cooperator in LSU Ag Center Madison Parish on Farm Variety Trials for cotton, corn, and soybeans. He was also Tri-State Soybean Forum Sponsor. Sam is survived by his wife, Lisa Hill; children, Clark Hill (Elizabeth), Carla Hill Black (Todd); grandchildren, Anna, Davis, Emery, and Baker; brothers, Carl Hill (Vicki) of Newellton, Louisiana, David Hill (Charla) of Chattanooga, Tennessee; sister, Tracy Acosta of Springdale, Arkansas, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Mary Ann and Claude Hill. Pallbearers are nephews: Craig Clark, Jr., Owen Clark, Chad Hargrave, Wade Hargrave, Cody Hill, and Josh Hill. Sam will be long remembered for his contagious smile and his love for people, especially his family, friends and fellow workers. The family requests that any memorials be made to St. Jude’s.
