All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ William Henry Hewes - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal May 15, 1953 Veteran Madison Police Jury Chief Claimed By Death William Henry Hewes, 87, president of the Madison Pariah Police Jury for the past 21 years, died in a Vicksburg hospital Wednesday afternoon. He had been a member of the jury since 1904, and several years ago was presented with a "loving cup," by the State Police Jury Association, in recognition of his long term of service. Funeral services will he held today at 3 p. m. under the direction of Young's Funeral Home here. Rev. G. R. Stevens, pastor of a Gulfport, Miss., Church will officiate. Interment will be at Live Oak Cemetery, Pass Christian, Miss. He is survived by one brother, George P. Hewes, Jackson, Miss., and a sister, Mrs. Frank G. Brown, Brooklyn, N. Y. Hewes' nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Yerger, William Powell, Charles Sparling, R. C. Webb, Ben Jordan, R. B. Watts, Terrell Lewis, Guy Nichols, Frank Stewart, W. M. Scott, Jr., all of the Madison Parish Police Jury; R. R. Spigener, C. E. Hester, H. C. Sevier, Sr., W. R. Gilfoil, Sr., Jack McCaffrey, D. H. Allen, Sr., George W. Webb, Dr. George Webb, Lancaster Kell, M. A. Verhagan, R. H. Alexander, C. W. Kennedy, M. A. Wroten, J. E. Neill, Sr., J. N.
