All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************** Betty Harrop Helton - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal March 4, 1992 Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Harrop Helton, 61, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church with Rev Ramon Warren officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home. Mrs. Helton died Friday at Vicksburg Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Helton was a native and lifelong resident of Tallulah, a graduate of Tallulah High School and a graduate of Touro Infirmary Nursing School. She was a retired public health nurse and a member of the First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Helton was the first female member of the Madison Parish Police Jury. Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Lillian Harrop of Tallulah; one brothel Dr. Robert W Harrop of Monroe; two nephews and one niece. Pallbearers were Neal Gilley, Dan Copes, Bob Laird, James Jones, Rhada Hopkins, Robert Craft, Charles 'Shorty' Jackson and Thurman Busby. Honorary pallbearers were Lucian Roy, Charlie Hopkins, Jim Crosby, Pete Norris and Donald Neumann.
