All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************** Louise Miles Helgason - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal September 23, 1998 Funeral services for Mrs. Louise Miles Helgason, age 93, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Fisher-Riles Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Don Derivaux officiating. Burial followed in the Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Helgason died Thursday, Sept. 10, 1998, in the Madison Parish Hospital. A native of Springfield, Mo., she moved to Vicksburg with her family at an early age. Mrs. Helgason married John A. Helgason in 1927 and moved to Hannah Plantation in Delta, La. Mrs. Helgason co-owned and managed the plantation with her husband and managed the plantation after Mr. Helgason's death in 1946 until the late 1980s. Mrs. Helgason was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church in Tallulah. She was preceded in death by her sister, Bobbie Miles Fisher and her brother, Earl Miles. Survivors included her son and daughter-in-law. John A. and Peedy Helgason Jr. of Delta: her nephew, the Rev. Don Derivaux, pastor of St. Francis of Assisi in Shaw, Miss.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and two brothers, James Miles of Cleveland, Texas and Monroe Miles of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Active pallbearers were grandsons John A. Helgason III, Joseph Blandon Helgason, Jeffrey Kevin Helgason, Jay Walter Helgason, James Randall Helgason, Jonathan Evan Helgason and Jon Miles Helgason. Honorary pallbearers were great-grandsons John A. Helgaon IV, Jeffrey Kevin Helgason Jr., Jon Phillip Helgason, James Randall Helgason Jr., Blandon Joseph Helgason and Christopher David Reeves. Memorials may be made to the St. Edwards Catholic Church in Tallulah. Fisher-Riles Funeral Home of Vicksburg was in charge of arrangements.
