Harris, Jr. - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal August 21, 1931 T. R. HARRIS, JR. IS BURIED WITH MASONIC HONORS Was Killed in Wreck Monday Night; Buried Here Wednesday T. R. Harris, Jr., age 28, was buried here Wednesday afternoon with full Masonic honors. He was a member of the Rayville Masonic Lodge. Harris died almost instantly Monday night when his car overturned three times about a mile and a half south of Rayville at the intersection of the Alto road with the Rayville-Natchez highway. When attempting to turn from the Alto road onto the other, loose gravel caused Harris to lose control of the car. The steering wheel of the car broke and the sharp point of the frame pierced his heart. David Mitchell of Rayville and Clifton Jones who were in the car at the time of the accident escaped uninjured. Mitchell leaped from the machine as it started to turn over and Jones saved himself by bracing on the floor of the automobile. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. C. N. Kimberlin at the home of his sister, Mrs. M. T. Young. Masonic ceremonies were conducted by the Rev. W. H. Giles. Harris was at one time a student of the Tallulah High School and at the time of his death was employed by the Louisiana Highway Commission. He is survived by his wife and three-year-old daughter, his father, T. R. Harris, Sr., two brothers, James Harris of Tallulah and Leon Harris of Beaumont, Tex.; and one sister, Mrs. M. T. Young, of Tallulah.
