All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Bertha Rew Hammond - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal June 20, 1969 Services Held Friday For Mrs. Hammond Mrs. Bertha Rew Hammond, prominent Tallulah resident passed away Thursday morning June 12, in Monroe following a short illness. Mrs. Hammond was born in Newton, Miss., March 4, 1902. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rew. On July 4, 1922 she was married to B. G. Hammond and they lived in Newton until 1936 when they moved to St. Joseph, La. In 1941 they moved to Tallulah where they have remained until her death. She was a member of the Tallulah Methodist Church and she had a large circle of friends in Tallulah. Survivors include her husband, B. G. Hammond, a daughter, Mrs. Warren Patrick, and one sister, Mrs. D. R. Fitzroy of Biloxi. Funeral services were held at Crothers Funeral Home Friday at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Clark Bell officiating, assisted by Father Joseph Harrison. Burial was in Providence Memorial Cemetery.
