H. Hale Of Tallulah fatally Injured In Collision Two persons were killed and another seriously injured Sunday noon in a head-on automobile collision about two miles east of Mound, La., in Madison Parish on Highway 80. The dead were identified as Mrs. Katherine Hale, 62, of Tallulah and James B. Tauntom, 48, of Strong, Arkansas. Both Mrs. Hale and Mr. Tauntom were killed instantly. Mr. W. H. Hale, who was riding his wife in the car at the time of the accident, was taken to Mercy Hospital in Vicksburg and treated for broken ribs and a fractured pelvis. According Lt. C. C. May of the Louisiana State Police who in investigated the accident, Mr. Hale was the only living person who was a witness to the accident. Mr. Hale is quoted as saying that he was driving the car and not his wife and that Tauntom swerved into his lane. Lt. May said at the accident he was unable at the time to determine which car was going in which direction, but after further investigation he found out that the Hales were traveling East and Tauntom was traveling West at the time of the accident. May said the two cars apparently collided head on at approximately 3:15 Sunday afternoon Mrs. Hale was an active worker to Tallulah Methodist Church, a past president of the church's Women's Society of Christian Service. She was a member of the Tallulah Book Club. Funeral services for Mrs. Hale were held at 2 p. m. Tuesday at the Tallulah Methodist Church with Rev. Clark Bell officiating. Burial followed in Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home. Survivors include her husband, two daughters, Miss Ruth Hale, Fort Worth, Texas and Mrs. Leonard Kennedy, Lake Providence; Capt. W. H. Hale, Jr., Glen Naval Air Station, Ga., a brother, Frank N. Renfro, San Antonio, Texas; and four grandchildren. Pallbearers were Dave Harvey, ???? House, J. C. Sherwin, P. F. Hargon, Dr. H.S. Provine and John Earl Martin.
