Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Lee Parker Gunn, age 92, will be held Thursday, July 2, 2020, at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church in Tallulah, Louisiana, with Bro. Martin Parker officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah, Louisiana, under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.

 

Mrs. Gunn passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at Legacy Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Tallulah, Louisiana. She was born to Clarence and Pearl Parker on July 24, 1927, in Selma, Louisiana. She moved to Tallulah around the age of five where she lived the rest of her life. She married “Pistol” Gunn, and they had two sons, Gary and Keith. She was a long time member of the Eastern Star, Chapter 198, for over 57 years, but her greatest accomplishment was making a home for her husband, sons, and grandchildren.

 

Mrs. Gunn was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Pearl Parker; her husband of over 61 years, Pistol Gunn; four brothers, Sandiford Parker, Winfred Parker, Clarence Parker, and A. G. Parker; and five sisters, Emma Wiggins, Dollie Wiggins, Ruby Foster Hall, Norene Freeman, and Leaneda Thornton Holder.

 

Mrs. Gunn is survived by two sons, Gary Gunn (Becky) of Tallulah, Louisiana, and Keith Gunn (Vicki) of Beaumont, Texas; two granddaughters, Brandi Heard (Derek) and April Baur, both of Tallulah, Louisiana; one grandson, Michael Gunn of Junction City, Kansas; three great-grandchildren, Summer and Parker Heard and Kimber Baur; three sisters-in-law, Irma Parker, Elizabeth Parker, and Lois Parker Finlayson; numerous nieces and nephews, and many wonderful friends and neighbors.

 

Pallbearers will be Joe Jobe, Hollis Ervin, Carl Tarver, Seth Nichols, Ray Thornton, and Harold Parker. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Fautheree, Eddie Hattaway, Tommy Dunning, Dr. L.P. Neumann, Dr. T. A. Neumann, Dr. L. F. Chenier, and Doc Stroup.

 

Mrs. Gunn’s family would like to thank the staff at Legacy Nursing and Rehabilitation, Nurse Practitioner, Caitlyn Copes, Cross Roads Hospice, Nurse, Monica Odom, Tammy Kivett, Tina Prater, Dr. T. A. Neumann, Dr. L. P. Neumann and many others for the loving care they gave to Mrs. Gunn.
