Griffin died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at his home in Tallulah. He was 87. Mr. Griffin was born in West Carroll Parish and had lived in Tallulah for 57 years. Mr. Griffin was employed as a security guard after retiring from the Tallulah Police force. He was a member of the Municipal Police Association and a member of the United Pentecostal Church. Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by his wife, Maybelle Fowler Griffin; two grandsons, James Edward Machen and Bobby Ray Rawles Jr.; and four brothers, Clyde Griffin, Everett Griffin, Hubert Griffin and Ester Lee Griffin. He is survived by two daughters, Reba G. Rinicker of Tallulah and Peggy G. Rawles of Rayville, La.; one brother, Bess Griffin of Oak Grove, La.; three sisters, Mildred McGowen, Willie Mae White and Hazel Carr, all of Monroe; four grandchildren, Carl L. Machen of Start, La., Lee Ann Tanner of Rayville and Bill Machen and Carla Ezell, both of Tallulah; and three great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the United Pentecostal Church in Tallulah with the Rev. Greg Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah. Visitation will be from noon until the hour of the service at the church. Pallbearers are Eric Givens, Ricky Killingsworth, Richard Williamson, Lloyd Fondren, Larry McGaha and James Rinicker. Honorary pallbearers will be Police Chief Earl Pinkney, Allen Machen, Clarence Hall, Donell Rose, Harold Ogden, William Givens and Luther Butler.
