Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Jean Oakes Graves, 85, of Delhi will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 6, 2013,
at the First Baptist Church in Delhi with Rev. Mickey Bounds officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM
Tuesday at Cox Funeral Home in Delhi.

Burial will be in the Delhi Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.

Mrs. Graves died Monday, February 04, 2013 at her residence after an extended illness.

She was born in Minden, LA, and reared in Tallulah. She was a longtime resident of Delhi and was a member of the Delhi First Baptist Church.

She was a retired businesswoman and store owner.

She is remembered for her strong work ethic. She owned and operated a grocery store in Delhi for many years. Betty is also fondly remembered

for being a gracious hostess in her home and at various events at the Delhi First Baptist Church. Upon retirement, she enjoyed traveling to all

parts of the world with her many friends.

Betty Jean is preceded in death by her parents Harvey Talmedge Oakes and Ila Mae Barrett Oakes; her husband, John Martin "Pete" Graves;

 a son Martin D. "Sambo" Graves and a sister Evelyn Oakes Wilson.

She is survived by a sister, Bobbie Ann Oakes Ezell of Winnsboro; several nieces and nephews and two great nieces, who were very dear to her heart.

Pallbearers will be Bo Skipper, Toby Waters, Gervis Norsworthy, Harry Barrett, Dwight Clarke and Larry Rodden.

The family would like to acknowledge the care given to Mrs. Graves by numerous employees of Caring Hearts At Home Care and Crossroads Hospice.

A special thanks to her caregiver of the last six years, Ms. Joy Johnston.

Any planned memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Delhi or to the LA Baptist Children's Home in Monroe, LA.
