All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************** William Earl Givens - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home, October 30, 2014 William Earl Givens June 10, 1931 - October 27, 2014 Mr. William Earl Givens, age 83, lost his fight with mesothelioma on October 27, 2014, in Tallulah, La. Funeral services for Mr. Givens will be Thursday, October 30, 2014, at 11:00 A.M., at First Baptist Church in Tallulah, La., with Bro. Jason McGuffie officiating. Visitation will be Thursday at 10:00 A. M., at the church, until the hour of service. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home. Mr. Givens was born on June 10, 1931, in Castor, La., to parents, John C. and Rosie Givens. He graduated from Tallulah High School in 1949 and accepted a position at People’s Water Service of Tallulah, where he worked for more than forty-nine years. William was an avid hunter and gardener and had a love for the outdoors that he instilled in both his children and grandchildren. William is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Lavonne, his sister, Mildred Overlees, of Anchorage, AK, his brother, Ray Givens of Tallulah, La., his sister and brother-in-law, Inez and Paul Lollar, of Manatachie, Ms., his daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Larry Cox, his son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Mary Givens, his grandchildren, Brian Cox, Erin Busby (Ryman), Mary Beth Warner (Stephen), Megan Givens, and Molly Givens, and his great-grandson, Ryder Busby. He is preceded in death by his son, James Earl Givens, and his parents, John C. and Rosie Givens. The family would like to thank Dr. L. P. Neumann and the staff of Madison Parish Hospital for their care of Mr. Givens in the days leading up to his death. Pallbearers will be Fernando Calvo, Benny Neal, Gene Cox, Sidney Johnson, Shorty Erwin, Bill Querry, Ira Hugh Ervin, and Sammie Byrd. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Mr. Givens’ Sunday School class.
