R. Gilfoil dies at 88, rites Monday Mrs. Elizabeth Scott Gilfoil 88, prominent resident of Madison Parish passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 29, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Eula Landry, in New Iberia, La. The daughter of Edward M. Scott and Eula Buckner, Mrs. Gilfoil was born in Jackson, Miss., but spent most of her childhood in Rosedale, Miss. She attended school in Greenville, Miss. She was married to William Riley Gilfoil and moved to Omega Plantation five miles north of Tallulah where she lived for the remainder of her life. Following the death of Mr. Gilfoil, Mrs. Gilfoil has visited with her children. She was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church and Altar Society and also a member of Madison Parish Garden Club. Survivors include five children, William Scott Gilfoil, Newark, Delaware, Mrs. Eula Landry, New Iberia, James M. Gilfoil, Omega, Mrs. Elizabeth McGuire, Wellesley, Mass, and George Scott Gilfoil, Baton Rouge; two sisters, Mrs. George Moss, Washington, D. C., and Sister Mary Paula at the Convent of Mercy, Vicksburg, Miss.; 22 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday, at 10 a.m. at St. Edwards Catholic Church with Fr. Belton Scallon officiating. Burial was in Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home. Pallbearers were grandsons and relatives of the deceased: Pat Gilfoil, Bill Gilfoil, John Gilfoil, Pete Dyer, Robert Webb, Edward M. Yerger, Jr., Field Montgomery and Don Sevier.
