Jewel Irene Burris Ghrigsby, age 69, of Tallulah, Louisiana, passed away Monday, May 24, 2021, at home with family by her side. Jewel was born in Tallulah, Louisiana, on August 3, 1951, to James Clarence and Dorothy Mae (Bearden) Burris.

Jewel married her best friend and partner, Larry Joseph Ghrigsby, on November 30, 1969. She loved her family and crafts.

Jewel is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, James C. Burris, Jr. and William Otis “Billy” Burris; and one sister, Ruby Nell Burris Melugin. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Larry Joseph Ghrigsby, Sr.; three children, Deborah Alysia Randall (Allen), Jeannie Lanette Wolcott (Scott), and Larry Joseph Ghrigsby, Jr.; four sisters, Bobbi Johnson of Minnesota, Lorene Mathews (James), Wanda Whitley (A.J.), both of Tallulah, Louisiana, and Rose Williams (Lon), of San Diego, California; six grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Visitation for Jewel will be held Thursday, May 27, 2021, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM with the funeral service following at 2:00 PM at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah, Louisiana, with Bro. Jason Lupo officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Brennon McLeod, Justin Bufkin, Dustin Pagan, Allen Randall, Earl Melugin, Jr., Brian Burris, Scott Whitley, and Stephen Whitley.
