All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Paul Aubrey Geisler - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, August 24, 1956 Paul Geisler Former THS Coach Dies Wednesday Was All-American Football Star At Centenary College In 1933, He Was 47 LAKE PROVIDENCE Special - Paul Aubrey Geisler, former All-American football star, died Wednesday morning at his home after a brief illness. He was 47 years old. Mr. Geisler had served as East Carroll Parish Athletic Director and Supervisor of Negro Schools since 1955. A native of Berwick, La., where he received his high school education, Mr. Geisler attended college at Centenary at Shreveport, La. He later transferred to Louisiana College, where he received his B. S. degree. He held the M. C. degree from Louisiana State University. In 1933 Mr. Geisler was named to the All-American football roster at end position. He served as assistant coach at Louisiana College, as coach for Lake Providence High School for four years, and as Tallulah High School coach for one year. In 1942 Mr. Geisler entered in the service, and was discharged as a captain in the Air Force. He returned to coaching at Stephen F. Austin College in Texas. He left Texas in 1950 to become principal of Lake Providence High School and in 1955 was promoted to the position he held at his death. Mr. Geisler was active in civic affairs of the community, was a member of the American Legion Post and was immediate past president of the Rotary Club. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Randle Johnson Geisler; one daughter, Paula; and a son, Mark, all of Lake Providence; his mother, Mrs. Matilde Geisler of Berwick; two sisters, Mrs. Homer Triche of Graves, Texas, and Miss Ester Geisler of Berwick; and one brother, Albert Geisler of Berwick. Funeral services were held Thursday morning at nine o'clock at the First Methodist Church of Lake Providence, with the Rev. C. R. McCammon and the Rev. C. A. Martin officiating. The body was taken overland to Berwick for burial there Thursday afternoon
