All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Victor Garcia - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, March 1, 1979 Missing youth's body found The body of Victor Garcia, 15, of 1308 Maple Street, Tallulah was recovered from Brushy Bayou just north of the Interstate 20 bridge-crossing over old U. S. 65, Tuesday. The cause of death has not been determined, and an autopsy has been ordered, officials said. Officials said the youth had been missing since the night of Feb. 14. Capt. Madison Hattaway, of the Tallulah Police Department said he and patrol officers have checked the bayou regularly since his in (missing data) been in the bayou. Hattaway sighted the body at 1:50 p.m. Tuesday. The youth's mother, Lucy Garcia, reported him missing the morning of Feb. 15 after he failed to come home the night before, officials said. Hattaway said the youth was last reported seen with Terry Jennings, 22, of Tallulah, Danny Riser, 17, of Delhi, and a Tallulah juvenile. He said his investigation indicates Garcia was last seen when Jennings let Garcia and Riser out of a car on (missing data) School at about 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 14. The body was recovered seven-tenths of a mile downstream of the foot-bridge. Tallulah Police Chief Howard Claxton said Riser is in the Madison Parish Jail serving a 30-day city court attempted burglary conviction. Police said Riser was found on the back porch of a Davis Street home early the morning of Feb. 15. Funeral services will be held at p.m. today in the chapel of Crothers Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jimmy Xxxxxx officiating. Burial will follow in Silver Cross Cemetery. The youth was a student at Tallulah High School. Survivors include his parents Mr. and Mrs. Catarino Garcia, of Tallulah; six brothers, Joe Strickland, Wesley Strickland, Thomas Garcia, Andrew Garcia, Raymond Garcia, and Jimmy Garcia, all of Tallulah; four sisters, Mrs. Frances Ghrigsby, Miss Virginia Garcia, Miss Ernestine Garcia, and Miss Theresa Garcia, all of Tallulah; one step-sister, Mrs. Frances DeLaFuente of Pasadena, Tex., and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Chris Mize, Eddie Mize, Wesley Harris, Johnny Armstrong, Wade McDaniel, and Tommy Bankston.
