William Frederick Gandy Sr - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal May 7, 1997 Funeral services for Col. William Frederick Gandy Sr, age 77, were held 10 a.m. Monday, May 5, 1997, at Comer Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday, La., with the Rev. Lyndie Bullard officiating. Burial was in Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah. Mr. Gandy died Friday May 2, 1997, at Natchez Regional Medical Center. A native of Tallulah, Mr. Gandy attended LSU and was a graduate of the University of Maryland. He was a member of the KA fraternity. He served the U.S. Army in World War 11, Korea and Vietnam. He retired as a full Colonel in 1972 after serving for 31 years. He was a member of the Ferriday Rotary Club., where he served as treasurer for several years. He served on Concordia Electric (REA) Board and the Huntington School Board. He was a member of Sevier United Methodist Church in Ferriday, where he served on the administrative board. He was inducted as a Paul Harris fellow in Rotary international. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Griffith Gandy of Lake St. John, La.; one son, William F. Gandy Jr. of Lafayette; three daughters, Robin Penfield Matthews of Providence Forge, N.Y., Jane G. Van Dyke of Williamsburg, Va. and Madge Ellen Blair of Daytona, Fla..; one brother, Dr. Thomas Howard Gandy of Natchez, Miss.; two sisters, Eleanor G. Terzia of Monroe and Mary Helen Loe of Tallulah; and six grandchildren. Mr. Gandy was preceded in death by one daughter Caroline A. Gandy. Pallbearers were J. D. St. Clergy, Mike Rabb, Wayne Miley, Billy Rucker, Lucky Nowlin and Bill Clifton. Honorary pallbearers were Lloyd Love, R. A. Campbell, Dr. Thomas Weed, Dr. Barry Tillman and the Rev. Matthew Covington Memorials may be made to the Cancer Society. Comer Funeral Home of Ferriday was in charge of arrangements
