French - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, July 24, 1959 Former Resident Succumbs Last Saturday In Monroe Funeral services were held here Monday afternoon for Charles D. French, 76, who died at his home in Monroe last Saturday morning following a long illness. He was a native of Lake County, Tennessee, was a painter by trade and had lived a number of years in Tallulah. Services were held Monday afternoon in the Crothers Funeral Home with the Rev. John F. Meek, pastor of Willow Bayou Baptist Church officiating. Burial followed in the Silver Cross Cemetery. Mr. French is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary French, two daughters, Mrs. Letha Stover, Cape Giradeau, Mo., and Mrs. Louise Johnson, Kenner; La.; three sisters; one brother; 13 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Earl Ruch, Henry Hutto, George Hopkins, Felix Hopkins, Charlie Jackson and Charlie Hopkins.
