Fortner - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Vicksburg Evening Post November 13, 1947 FORTNER RITES DUE AT TALLULAH THIS AFTERNOON Prominent Resident Of Madison Parish Succumbs TALLULAH, La, Nov. 13-Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock this afternoon for Mrs. Fortner, prominent Madison Parish resident who died after a long illness. The Rev. John Kilpatrick, pastor of the Tallulah Methodist Church will officiate at the services and burial will be in the Silver Cross cemetery. Mrs. Fortner was a native of Mississippl, and a former resident of, Jackson. She had lived for many years on Briers Plantation south of Tallulah. She was a member of the Tallulah Methodist Church, and the Woman's Society for Christian Service. She was also a member of the Tallulah Book Club and active in Home Demonstration Club work. She is survived by a son, Douglas, and a daughter, Miss Fortner of Gulfport; a sister, Mrs. N. V. Sheppard of Utica and two grandchildren of Tallulah.
