S. O. ERWIN In the passing away on Wednesday of Mrs. S. O. Erwin Tallulah has sustained a great loss. Her splendid mind, strong personality and Christian virtues had gained for her lifelong friends. She was born in Warren County, Mississippi, near Vicksburg, Susan Spann. She moved to East Carroll parish and resided at Revue, her home plantation, for some years. She married Mr. M. P. Erwin, of Omega, and her home was there until 17 years ago, when they moved to Tallulah. She was 75 years young when called to dwell in her heavenly home; the realm of love and light. For some years she was an invalid and confined to her home, where it was always a pleasure for her friends to visit for there her friends were the recipients of inspiration and mental xxxx. She was a member of the Tallulah Book Club and expressed a great pleasure that the books provided for her shut-in life. She joined the Methodist church when young and was a loyal supporter of its institutions. The funeral was conducted from the residence Thursday at 2:30 by Bros. Barr and Harold and was concluded at the grave. Her favorite song, "I'd be with you till we Meet Again," was sweetly sung while we realized she was at rest. She was placed beside her mother and the spot was covered with a profusion of beautiful flowers, which testified the love of her friends. The deceased is survived by the following relatives: Her husband, Mr. M. Erwin, two daughters and three sons, Charlie Hart, Mr. Jim Erwin, Mr. Mike Erwin, Jr., of Lake Providence, Mr. Earnst Erwin, of New York, and Miss Queenie Erwin, of Tallulah. She was also a sister-in-law of Mrs. J. C. Yerger, of this place, and an aunt of Mrs. W. M. Murphy, of New York, Mr. W. R. Spann, of Fort Worth, Texas, and Mr. Will Craig, of this place. The Journal and many friends express deepest sympathy for the family who are in sorrow. May the knowledge that her entry into Heaven was one of triumph, bring to them comfort and peace.
