All rights reserved. ******************************************************************************************** Ira Hugh Ervin March 27, 1931 - March 24, 2017 From Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home March 26, 2017 Ira Hugh Ervin, 85, of Tallulah, Louisiana, passed away peacefully March 24, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Ira Hugh was born on March 27, 1931 in Crystal Springs, Ms. to Hollis and Elsie Conn Ervin. He graduated from Tallulah High School in 1950 and served in the United States Air Force. He worked for the United States Postal Service as a rural route carrier for 35 years and also was a farmer. Ira Hugh is survived by his wife, Alice T. Ervin; children, Ira Archie Ervin of Vicksburg, Ms., David Hugh "Tater" Ervin (Kathleen) of Metairie, La., Alicia Ervin Nolan (Brad) of Charlotte, NC, Edward "PeeWee" Thigpen (Deborah) of Vicksburg, Ms., Bill Thigpen of Redwood, Ms., Sam Thigpen (Kristen) of Terry Ms.; grandchildren, Paige Ervin Creekmore, Alex, Brandi, and Michael Nolan, Eddie, Britt, Jennings, and Addison Thigpen; great-grandchildren, Emily Creekmore, Will and Sam Thigpen, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. And Mrs. Hollis Ervin; his first wife of 39 years, Rita Smith Ervin; sisters, Martha Ann (Fhatt) Gilbert and Beth Thomas; brothers, Hollis Ervin and Tommie Ervin; son, Stanley Thigpen; grandsons, Wesley Thigpen and Brad Gaines. Visitation will be held on March 27, 2017 at First Baptist Church, Tallulah, Louisiana at 1:00 P.M., with the funeral service to immediately follow at 2:00. Burial will take place at Silver Cross Cemetery.
