Ervin, Jr. - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal June 23, 1999 Funeral services for Mr. Hollis E. Ervin, Jr., 75, of Tallulah, were held Thursday, June 10, 1999 in the chapel of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial followed in the Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home. Mr. Ervin died Tuesday, June 8, 1999, in the Olive Branch Skilled Nursing Center in Tallulah. He was born in Crystal Springs, Miss., and had lived in Tallulah for 50 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was a retired U.S. Postal Service employee after 32 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tallulah, the Order of Eastern Star, and the Tallulah Masonic Lodge #308. He was employed as a deputy sheriff with the Madison Parish Sheriff's Office. Survivors include his wife: Donna Nettles Ervin, Tallulah; his son: Hollis E. Ervin, III of Pawleys Island, S.C.: two grandchildren: Diana Ervin and Scott Ervin, Pawleys Island; two brothers: Ira Hugh Ervin and Tommy Ervin of Tallulah; one sister: Martha Ann Gilbert, Tallulah; one step-daughter: Gay Waggoner and her daughter, Claire Waggoner, West Monroe, La.: and one stepson: Trey Gilfoil, Tallulah. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mrs. Clara Carney Ervin. Pallbearers were deputies of the Madison Parish Sheriff's Office.
