Ms. Hazel, as she was affectionately called, was born in Farmerville, La., July 8, 1928, and passed away Friday, May 16, 2008. She was 79 years old. Ms. Hazel was an active member of First Baptist Church, where she served 42 years as director of the fifth and sixth grade Sunday school. Her loving memory will be alive and well in all the lives she so richly touched. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Zera Brasher of Farmerville, La.; and one brother, Hurby Brasher, a casualty of World War II. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Everett L. Edwards; two daughters, Victoria L. Edwards, and Beverly E. Zeigler and her husband, Howard; one son, Ronald D. Edwards; two sisters, Nancy Green and her husband, Muriel, and Juarline Arender and her husband, Donald Wayne; and two brothers, JW Brasher and his wife, Bennie, and Dwain Brasher and his wife, Rachel. Ms. Hazel's magnificent spiritual splendor is almost as breathtaking as the numerous varieties of landscape beauty she so enjoyed planting and nurturing in her yard work.
