Otis Edgerton - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, February 16, 1963 Funeral Services Held Tuesday For Dr. E. O. Edgerton Dr. E. Otis Edgerton, a beloved elder resident of Tallulah for so many years, died at his home very suddenly on Sunday morning February 17, 1963 at 7:30. He had been confined to his bed for many months, but was always the same friendly and happy Dr. Edgerton that everyone knew since his coming to Tallulah in 1926. He was born in Saline, Louisiana, July 1, 1874. He was graduate of the University of Tennessee and received his degree in Medicine from Boston, Mass School of Medicine. He began his practice of medicine in Gahagen, La., later corning to Arcadia, La. It was while practicing there that he married Miss Lacey Regenold in Memphis, Tenn., in 1904. They moved to a plantation near Coushatta, La., where he was a practicing physician until they came to Tallulah to make their home. Dr. Edgerton was coroner for Madison Parish since 1944. He was a member of the American Medical Association and the Louisiana Coroners Association, and a past president of the Tri-Parish Medical Association of East Carroll, Madison and Richland Parishes. In 1954 he was honored with a banquet given for him for his 50 years as a doctor of medicine by the Louisiana State Medical Association at their annual meeting. Dr. Edgerton was a member of the Methodist Church, a Mason and Shriner. He is survived by three devoted children, Mrs. Katherine Payne of Tallulah, Mr. Edwin Otis Edgerton and Mr. Fred Edgerton, both of Alexandria, La. Funeral services were held from the Tallulah Methodist Church Tuesday, February 19, 1963 at 2 p. m. with the Rev. Wilson L. Watson officiating. Interment was in Silver Cross Cemetery. Pallbearers were four nephews, Judge Percy Brown of Arcadia, La., Mr. Clarence Otis Brown of Alexandria, La., Mr. Fred Regenold of Lake Providence and Mr. Henry Brown of Bossier City, La., and Dr. George W. Webb, E. H. Lancaster, Jr., C. E. Hester and G. L. Smith.
